The Early Sheepdog Trials Project - People and Dogs
Return to Early Trials Project home page INTRODUCTION Most of the other pages in the project deal with the trials themselves, but without the handlers and dogs, there would, of course, have been no trials. In addition, there were, as now, judges, timekeepers and secretaries. This page aims to list as many of the people involved in the early trials as possible. Some of those involved, not only the Barcrofts, who already have a sizeable page to themselves, turn up again and again at trials, sometimes far from their homes. As these names start to crop up more and more, it will, I hope, be possible to create individual pages with enough information about them to add a little flesh to the bare bones of their existence, and a series of articles in International Sheepdog News is planned to cover some of the more prominent people. If you have any information to add, please contact me by email. INDEX OF PEOPLE AND DOGS: [Under construction] Note that spellings of names and places in contemporary reports are not always reliable; I have tried to find and list the correct version for each handler and location. I am also including the age of the dog/bitch where given in order to assist with identification.
