Submitting Articles and Photos

to International Sheepdog News

ISN welcomes articles, sheepdog trials results and photos.

As you will see from the magazine itself, and the pages of past articles, ISN includes interviews with sheepdog handlers and trainers, reports of sheepdog trials, sheepdog training, health and nutrition, sheepdog and shepherding history, and other related subjects. We do not cover other disciplines carried out by sheepdog breeds such as agility and obedience (which we leave to the magazines and organisations devoted to those subjects), with the exception of occasional articles on Search and Rescue and other working activities.

If this is the first time you have submitted material for publication with ISN, please contact the editors beforehand to discuss your proposed article - this is in case the subject has already been commissioned from someone else, or if you have any questions. Click here for contact details.

Yo do not need to format your article or design the layout - that is done by the editorial team.

• The TEXT of your article should be sent as a simple text (.txt), rich text (.rtf), or word (.doc) file, attached to your email, or the text can simply be included ini the main body of the email itself.

• Any PHOTOS should be submitted separately from the text (ie NOT embedded into a Word file, from which it cannot easily be extracted) at sufficient resolution for reproduction in a printed magazine. In practice, that means each image should be about 0.5MB (500KB) or larger. Even though smaller images often look fine on the screen, the printed page is far more demanding and we would hate your article to be marred by fuzzy images. Sorry if this all sounds unnecessarily complicated or fussy, but it is better to have things right beforehand than to have to sort it out later on.

• CAPTIONS for the photos should be included either at the end of the text file, clearly identifying which image goes with which caption.

If in doubt - please ask!
